Windows Millennium Edition
(Me) error messages do not display component and register information by
default. When an error occurs, you see a dialog box with following
information...
When you right-click a registered file type, you can use the
Open With command to select a program to open the file. Each
program you use is added to the Open With list for that file type,
even if the program you are using is unable to open the selected file
type. For example, if you select Microsoft Paint (SPaint.exe) in the
Open With dialog box when you open a text document (a file with a
.txt extension), the Paint program is listed in the Open With list
for all text documents, even though Paint is unable to open text
documents.

Although Windows may seem to shut down
correctly, ScanDisk may run the next time you start the

During the shutdown process, the contents of
the virtual cache are written to the destination device. If the
destination device is an Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) hard disk,
data may be written to the hard disk's onboard cache but not to the disk
itself. When this occurs, the data is lost from the cache when the
computer turns off.

session (or command prompt) while Windows is running. Attempts to do so
may generate the following error message: There is not enough
memory available to run this program. Quit one or more programs,
and then try again. The computer may stop responding (hang)
while Windows is starting, or halt and display the following error
message: Insufficient memory
to initialize windows. Quit one or more memory-resident programs or
remove unnecessary utilities from your Config.sys and Autoexec.bat
files, and restart your computer.

disk in Windows Millennium Edition (Me) the computer cannot resume from
the hibernation it was sent into before starting from the Emergency Boot
Disk (EBD).

process as if it were just turned on. The previous system state (before
hibernation) will not be restored and unsaved data may be lost.

following symptoms: When you start Windows, you may receive the following error
message: Error loading GDI.EXE. You must reinstall Windows. When you
