How to backup and restore all of your Outlook 2000 data:
In the first place you will need to know which option is installed in
Outlook:
if it is "Corporate
or Workgroup (CW)" or "Internet
Only (IMO)" .
The procedure is different for each configuration. If you don't know it,
you can find this information in the menu "Help" / About Microsoft
Outlook"
Making
backup for the "Internet Only" option:
You
will need to copy your
Personal Folders file (*. pst), shortcuts, customcategories, rules, signatures, toolbar customizations, etc.
1. Make
a copy of your Personal Folders file (*. pst). Its default location is
..
\ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Outlook
It
is also probable that you have it in another location or you have more
than one
*.pst file on your disk. If you are not sure of the location of your
Personal Folders file,
you can use the Windows Search to locate all the files with the *.pst
extension.
2. Your
shortcuts (they are in the files with the *.fav extension) Toolbar
customizations (Outcmd.dat). These files are also in
.. \Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
3. In the same
folder you have a file with the *.rwz extension. They are the
rules.
If you have more than one account, you will have one .rwz file for each
account.
4. The Nicknames:
in the same folder, the are files with the *.Nick extension.
5. Your signatures are
in:
.. \
Application Data \ Microsoft \ Signatures.
6. Stationery:
If we have created stationery, we must copy all the files in
.. \ Application
Dates \ Microsoft \ Stationery.
7. Personal
categories: if we have created some, it will be in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 9.0 \ Outlook \
Categories
You will need to export
it and to merge it in the new installation. Caution: If you have
created categories in the new installation before merging the *.reg file,
you will lose it.
8. You can
also export the configuration of your Internet Mail accounts from
the menu Tools / Accounts. The accounts will be exported to files
with
the *.iaf extension.
Recovery of the
Outlook configuration:
1. Configure Internet Mail
accounts, or export them from the *. iaf files.
2. Change the default location
of mail delivery: by default Outlook creates a
new *.pst file. For continue using the old *.pst file, open the menu
File/Open/ File and open your original Personal
Folders file.
Right-click your original
.pst file, and then click "Properties".
Mark "Deliver POP mail to this personal folders file".
Making backup for
the "Corporate or Workgroup" option:
1. The same steps 1 to 8
as in "Internet Only." option. If you have more than
one
profile created, you'll need to backup the other profiles on your new
installation using
the Mail icon in Control Panel.
2. If you have a Personal
Address Book, you will need to copy the * .pab file.&
To recover the profile of Outlook:
Create a new profile and in the menu
Tools / Services", click the the "Add" button and select the services

If you have multiple profiles, repeat the same steps for each profile.
